| Fergus is a historic town, which lies on the Grand River. Fergus is formerly known as "Little Falls" due to the scenic waterfall downtown between the Public Library and the Market. It is the largest community in Centre Wellington. Fergus is famous for the annual Scottish Festival and Highland Games, held in August; North America's largest truck-show held in July; and the fall fair held in October. The 2006 Census published the population for all of Centre Wellington (which includes Elora and 15 smaller communities), so the only numbers are of the 2001 Census of 10,017 people. Fergus celebrated the 175th Anniversary in 2008. | |||
