| Baden is a community in the Township of Wilmot. It has a population of about 3,000.It is home to the historic Castle Kilbride, built in 1877 by James Livingston, co-founder of a successful linseed oil company He named Baden after his birthplace in Scotland. The building is famous for its interior paint in a trompe l′oeil style, a french phrase for ′fool the eye′. Although it is painted on a flat service, the images gives a 3-D effect. Wilmot Township purchased Castle Kilbride to restore in 1993 spending $6.2 million on the project. On Baden Hill, a huge television, radio and communications tower is present, which is where CKCO-TV (CTV Southwestern Ontario) transmits its signal. | |||
